Getting Started with Restovax

This guide takes you from a new account to your first paid order. Allow about 30 minutes.

1. Finish the setup wizard

The first time you sign in, the onboarding wizard asks for your restaurant details. Complete it once. If you need to change those answers later, go to Help & Support and use Restart Onboarding at the bottom of the page. Restarting only re-opens the wizard. It does not delete your menu, orders or customers.

2. Build your menu

Open Menu in the sidebar. Work in this order, because each step uses the one before it:

  1. Item Categories: create your main categories (for example Food, Drinks). You can add sub-categories under them. Categories also decide which kitchen or bar printer a dish goes to.
  2. Modifier Groups and Item Modifiers: options such as "Extra cheese" or "Well done", with their prices.
  3. Menu Items: add each dish with its name, price and category, then attach any modifier groups it should offer.

Use Promotions later for happy hours and buy-one-get-one offers. They are applied automatically at the till.

3. Set up your tables

Under Orders in the sidebar, open Tables. Create your Areas first (for example Indoor, Terrace), then add tables to them. QR Codes lets guests order from their phone, and Reservations handles bookings.

4. Taxes and service charge

In Settings, configure your tax rates and whether prices include tax, and your service charge. Both are then added to every bill automatically. At the till a cashier can untick the service charge on a single bill for a guest who will not pay it.

5. Add your team

Open Staff to add people and give each one a role (owner, manager, cashier, waiter, kitchen and so on). Roles decide what each person can see and do. Staff can also sign in at the till with a personal PIN.

6. Open your shift

Before taking cash, open your cash register shift under Cash Register. It records what is in the drawer when you start, so that at the end of the shift the system can tell you whether the cash adds up.

7. Take your first order

  1. Open Point of Sale.
  2. For a seated guest, pick the table and enter the number of guests. Choose Takeout or Delivery for other orders.
  3. Tap items to add them. Tap an item with options to choose its modifiers.
  4. Choose Send to kitchen. The order prints at the right stations.
  5. When the guest is ready to pay, choose Pay, pick the payment method and confirm.

The full till guide is under POS Operations Guide on the Help page.

8. Check how the day went

  • Daily Sales and Financial Reports show sales, taxes and profit.
  • Cash Register closes your shift and compares counted cash against what the system expected.
  • Kitchen Display shows incoming orders to the kitchen staff.
